In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a historic storm that left a devastating mark on North Carolina, Asheville and the greater Western North Carolina region are facing a significant crisis. Many residents are still displaced without fresh water, food, cell phone and internet service.
Yesterday, Governor Roy Cooper issued a Federal Major Disaster Declaration for 25 North Carolina counties.
Resources
In the days following the storm, North Carolina citizens, through the power of social media, have created a live, open-source Google Doc that is continuously updated with the latest information and resources.
The comprehensive document is constantly updated by individuals in and around Asheville with boots on the ground, providing real-time updates on where to find essentials like gas, food, open shelters, pet supplies, batteries and more.
Below is a selection of helpful information sourced from the doc. Again, click here for the full list. And remember, only add to the document if you have pertinent information.
