The 2025 Pinecone Pathways Program is right around the corner. Widely regarded as one of the leading and most anticipated events of the spring season, it is a family favorite in North Carolina. Those visiting the pristine Southern Pines ought to make a trip to enjoy this budding annual tradition.
The Pinecone Pathways Scavenger Hunt
The event is scheduled to run from March 20th, the very first day of spring, till April 22nd, notably Earth Day. Locals and visitors alike will be able to find the pinecones on Moore County Trails for five weeks of spring.
The event has been a big successs for the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). They have partnered with some of the most talented glassworkers in North Carolina at Starworks to handcraft the most gorgeous glass-blown pinecones. These stunning gems are carefully hidden throughout the trails of Moore County for outdoor enthusiasts to find and enjoy as a keepsake.
Even if you are not lucky enough to find any of the 100 carefully hidden glass pinecones, you will still enjoy taking in the sights. This event is perfect for friends and family. Pack your picnics and bring along your snacks as you hike through the beautiful Moore County trails.

What Is The Pinecone Pathways Program All About?
This event first launched in 2022 to celebrate North Carolina’s Year of the Trail, but its massive success pushed it to become an annual tradition. Today, the event bolsters the local economy, provides locals and incoming tourists with new recreational opportunities, and promotes sustainability practices that will ultimately support the unfolding and maintenance of these beautiful trails.
Is There A Prize?
