One of the most unique gardens in the South is the beautiful Orchid Conservatory at the Daniel Stowe Botancial Gardens near Charlotte NC. Here you can see some of the most beautiful orchids from countries near and afar as well as air plants, and other amazing trees and flowers. It’s a truly picturesque location that is worth a visit!
The Gardens
Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is an impressive, all-season venue near the banks of Lake Wylie. They host regular events in the gardens, and the grounds also boast sparkling fountains and a captivating conservatory of tropical plants and orchids. Plus, a visitor pavilion, a garden store, and plenty of nature trails.

Alongside the rich greenery, the Gardens feature several special exhibits. For example, their Butterfly Bungalow, home to native North Carolina butterfly species, and – our personal favorite – the Orchid Conservatory.
The Conservatory
The William H. Williamson, III, Orchid Conservatory is the Carolinas’ only one of its kind. The 8,000-square-foot, five-story glass house is dedicated to a display of orchids and tropical plants. Inside, you’ll see a waterfall, stunning blooming orchids and lush, tropical plants. These include a cocoa tree, vanilla orchid and orchid tree. Whether you love an opportunity for photography, adore flowers, or simply like to explore nature, the orchid conservatory is a can’t-miss.
The conservatory is included as part of general admission, and is always worth a visit.
